The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care-teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
Responsibilities- Assess and admit patients, perform rounding checks, administer medications, and communicate with family members
- Provide comprehensive care to patients, including those with sepsis, hemorrhage, stroke, cardiac, trauma, post-op, substance withdrawal, and diabetic ketoacidosis
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care delivery
- Participate in the hospital's Magnet redesignation journey and contribute to the unit's Partnership council
- Enroll in the Nurse Residency Program and receive a 10-12 week clinical preceptorship
- BSN or MSN preferred
- Meet and maintain any requirements defined by specific clinical areas, including ACLS, PALS, ENPC, ONS/ONCC, or Sentara-approved courses
- Hold a current RN license in Virginia or North Carolina
