Job Summary:

As a Radiation Therapist at Queen's Health System, you will play a critical role in the delivery of high-quality patient care in our Radiation Oncology Program. This program is accredited by the American College of Radiology and provides care to cancer patients of all ages who will benefit from radiation therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate clinical care of patients, integrating all healthcare providers to ensure high-quality patient/family outcomes.
  • Establish a consistent and accountable relationship with patients and their families.
  • Initiate and develop plans of care, provide patient/family education, and manage utilization and discharge planning.

Physical Demands:

The Radiation Therapist will be required to perform various physical tasks, including lifting, standing, walking, and operating machines/tools/work aids. The work environment may be highly stressful, fast-paced, and hectic, with exposure to body fluids, blood products, and communicable diseases.

Working Conditions:

The Radiation Therapist will work in an inside environment, with occasional assignment to inpatient adult psych areas and Family Treatment Center. The management of confused/disoriented and combative patients may involve tasks that compromise physical safety.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Registered Nurse, State of Hawaii
  • Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing; Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Current BLS/HCP card in all areas; ACLS, NALS, and/or PALS in designated areas
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively

Scope of Service:

The Radiation Oncology Program provides care to cancer patients of all ages who will benefit from radiation therapy. The program includes three linear accelerators, a CT simulator, a High Dose Rate brachytherapy unit, exam rooms, patient waiting areas, and office space.
