Position Overview:
This role is primarily remote, with travel requirements reaching up to 60% to various manufacturing facilities across the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will oversee the design and safe execution of equipment and installation packages within capital projects for the CertainTeed Roofing manufacturing facilities. This includes:
- Managing process design development, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
- Reporting directly to the Project Engineering Manager within the Project Management Office (PMO).
- Collaborating with Project Managers to ensure project goals are met regarding scope, budget, timeline, and communication.
- Leading capital packages related to design, procurement, and installation.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to Project Engineers during the design phase.
- Supporting Project Managers in delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Working with the Technical Office to develop optimal designs and processes, focusing on performance and cost-effectiveness while ensuring safety and compliance.
- Creating business cases and budget estimates for capital projects.
- Driving continuous improvement in process plant design alongside the Operational Excellence Team.
- Assisting in the startup and commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Ensuring smooth project transitions to the Operations team, including all necessary documentation and training.
- Maintaining project schedules and communicating status updates effectively.
Collaboration:
Fostering strong communication and collaboration with various teams, including the PMO, Technical Office, OPEX team, and Loss Prevention Team throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Master's Degree or Professional Engineer (PE) designation is preferred.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing setting, particularly in capital project engineering.
- Extensive knowledge of piping systems design and industrial manufacturing methods.
- Experience with engineering drawings and mechanical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
