Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Section Leader, Mammography/Sonography, the Diagnostic Sonographer employs advanced ultrasound technology and various diagnostic methods to assist in medical evaluations. This role is essential in generating and analyzing ultrasound images along with associated data.
Qualifications
Educational Background
Completion of a recognized educational program that qualifies for ARDMS certification.
Professional Experience
Prior experience in sonography is highly preferred.
Certifications
Active registration with ARDMS is required; candidates who are ARDMS-eligible must obtain certification within one year of employment.
Healthcare Certification
BLS certification for healthcare providers is mandatory.
Required Skills
- Proficient in ultrasound scanning techniques for vascular, OBGYN, abdominal, and small parts.
- Ability to comprehend both oral and written medical, radiological, and sonographic terminology.
- Strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and its correlation with anatomical structures.
- Capability to recognize pathological conditions.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English.
- Competent computer skills are essential.
- Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
