Job Overview

The Retail Floor Lead plays a crucial role in supporting the Store Manager in running a retail environment that prioritizes exceptional customer service, fosters employee morale, provides training, and enhances sales and profitability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant retail experience is required.
  • Completion of the National Retail Hardware Association test is expected within three months of employment.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in ensuring adequate staff coverage across departments and aid in scheduling and time management tasks.
  • Monitor staff performance and ensure adherence to company policies, including dress code and procedural compliance.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the Store Manager regarding employee performance evaluations.
  • Identify and coordinate projects for completion.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including cash drawer preparation.
  • Act as a liaison between management and hourly employees, executing directives as needed.
  • Engage with customers to address inquiries and assist with their needs.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service consistently.
  • Operate the cash register when required.
  • Assist with store maintenance tasks such as stocking, cleaning, and organizing.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Exhibit a high level of integrity and ethical standards in handling sensitive information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly.
  • Ability to interpret safety regulations and operational guidelines.
  • Competence in basic mathematical calculations, including discounts and percentages.
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping and accounting principles for maintaining store records.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Good decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance and repair tasks is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong customer service orientation and a positive demeanor.

Physical Requirements

This position involves frequent physical activities, including lifting up to 25 lbs., standing, walking, and reaching. Occasional lifting of heavier items (up to 50 lbs.) may be required. The ability to communicate effectively and operate a computer or cash register is essential.

Work Environment

The work is primarily conducted within the store, with occasional outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions. The environment is typically fast-paced, with regular deadlines and sales targets. Safety measures are in place to protect employees from potential hazards.
