Foster Care Child Welfare Specialist

Job Summary:

The Foster Care Child Welfare Specialist is a critical role in providing case management social services to children, youth, or families assigned to their caseload. This position requires developing supportive relationships with clients, addressing their needs and goals, and being available to meet at various locations, including outside of normal business hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate preliminary assessments of clients' functions and develop effective case plans/treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate case records, submit required reports, and provide statistical data.
  • Meet regularly with supervisors to discuss clinical issues and critical issues requiring supervisory consent or referral source authority.
  • Develop and utilize knowledge of agency and community resources to support established case plans.
  • Be readily accessible to clients for meetings at their convenience.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in social work or a human services field.
  • Two years of social service experience.
  • Ability to fulfill regulatory requirements for Child Welfare Agencies, including background checks and certification as a driver of children.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable insurance coverage.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to respond to program needs or caseload assignments.
  • Sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences in the community.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs and physically attend to young children and infants.
