Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrophysiology Technologist to join our team at Geisinger Health System. As an Electrophysiology Technologist, you will play a critical role in the daily operations of our Electrophysiology Laboratory, providing technical support during electrophydiology and pacemaker procedures, and ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily procedures in the electrophysiology laboratory, including radio-frequency catheter ablations, pacemaker implants, ICD implants, tilt table tests, direct current cardioversions, and intracardiac ultrasound-Doppler.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrophysiology laboratory equipment to ensure operability and safety, and perform routine preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Perform emergency therapeutic maneuvers during procedures, including CPR, defibrillation, temporary pacemaker insertion, and airway management.
  • Assist the physician in the preparation of the patient, assist during the procedure, and provide all necessary services to safely and efficiently complete patient procedures.
  • Analyze and file electrocardiographic data using digital computer analysis systems and paper filing systems.
  • Practice sterile technique, preparing for procedures, including scrubbing, applying surgical gowns, gloving, draping, and setup of instrument tables.
  • Responsible for primary and secondary hemostasis during and after procedures.
  • Participate in departmental quality control and quality assurance initiatives, and Joint Commission-mandated educational programs.
  • Perform appropriate billing for services rendered or equipment used in the electrophysiology laboratory.
  • Assist with the training and orientation of new staff members within the department.
  • Assist with ongoing clinical research trials pertinent to the electrophysiology laboratory.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program and exam eligibility required.
  • International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) status required within two years of hire.
  • RCES/RCIS preferred.
  • OR - Applicants who hold an ARRT certification as a Radiology Tech are required to maintain the ARRT certification.
