Job Summary:

To assess, diagnose, and treat patients with hearing, balance, and related disorders, utilizing advanced audiological techniques and technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patients' audiologic function, interpret findings, and review test results with patients or responsible adults.
  • Document patients' case history, test results, and recommendations for follow-up in the medical record and report results and recommendations to referring physicians and/or primary care physicians.
  • Counsel patients about treatment options for hearing loss and refer patients to ear, nose, and throat departments for consultation when appropriate.
  • Counsel patients about management of chronic tinnitus.
  • Educate patients about hearing conservation.
  • Evaluate patients' vestibular function when referred for dizziness, vertigo, or imbalance.
  • Perform canalith repositioning maneuvers for patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and counsel patients about vestibular rehabilitation exercises when appropriate.
  • Perform and interpret electro physiologic and special tests of the peripheral and central auditory system.
  • Evaluate hearing status of infants and young children with an appropriate comprehensive battery of tests.
  • Counsel patients regarding hearing aid device options.
  • Evaluate patients' hearing aids when appropriate and enter referrals for hearing aids for members with a hearing aid benefit.
  • Additional specialized duties include programming and fitting implantable devices such as cochlear implants, bone-anchored hearing aids (BAHAS), and similar devices, as well as fitting, programming, and troubleshooting hearing aids and assistive listening devices, including electroacoustic analysis and real-ear measures.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.
Requirements:
  • Current employees: Masters degree and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in audiology required - OR - an Au.D.
  • New hires: Au.D.
  • Credentials from multiple states required, including National Provider Identifier, Basic Life Support from American Heart Association, and PECOS Enrollment within three months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in vestibular testing (videonystagmography (VNG) or electronystagmography (ENG)).
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in behavioral pediatric assessment (infants and toddlers).
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in Auditory Evoked Potential testing (all ages).
Work Environment:

Primary location: Maryland, Kensington, Kensington II Medical Offices.

Hours per week: 40.

Shift: Day.

Workdays: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

Working hours start: 09:00 AM.

Working hours end: 05:30 PM.

Job schedule: Full-time.
