MRI Technologist Assistant

The Senior MRI Technologist Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care at Akumin. This position requires a strong understanding of diagnostic imaging services and the ability to work effectively with patients, family members, physicians, and other personnel.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Remote MRI Technologist in performing high-quality diagnostic imaging services in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
- Properly placing and maintaining patient IV access, administering MR contrast agents as prescribed, and identifying adverse reactions.
- Assisting with the overall workflow of the department to ensure the completion of work assignments and monitoring supplies to avoid disruptions.
- Promptly investigating and reporting service malfunctions to ensure minimal downtime and maintaining accurate records of service calls.
- Ensuring patient history forms are accurate, complete, and reviewed with the Remote Technologist, identifying areas of concern to prevent patient incidents.
- Transporting patients to and from the MR suite, positioning them safely and comfortably, and providing proper patient communication throughout the examination.
- Assisting with clinical accreditation applications and inspections as needed.
Requirements for this position include:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- ARRT (R) and state license, if applicable.
- Alpha RT Certification within 30 days of hire.
- BLS or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and competency in the clinical area of the practice.
- Excellent people skills, adaptability, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effectively interacting with Radiologists, referring physicians, and center personnel while maintaining credibility in a demanding environment.
Preferred qualifications include:
- ACLS certification.
- One year of experience in the medical field.
- I.V. skills, with training provided prior to patient care.
- Familiarity with current software packages such as Google apps, HIS/RIS, and PACS.
