Position Overview
This role involves embodying the college spirit as the Laker Louie mascot at various campus events, local high school functions, and community gatherings. The mascot performer will be tasked with bringing the character to life, ensuring the college's values and standards are upheld at all times. Responsibilities include participating in parades, attending sports events, fostering Laker Pride, engaging with audiences, and posing for photographs. Performance elements such as physical antics, skits, and interactions at local fairs and festivals are also required.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance the college's visibility and spirit through appearances at campus and community events.
- Work collaboratively with college personnel and community members to develop materials and routines for high school activities and community engagements.
- Distribute promotional items to raise awareness of the college within the community.
- Engage with individuals both one-on-one and in larger crowds.
- Attend events throughout the year, including during breaks and weekends as necessary.
- Manage and transport the mascot costume responsibly.
- Provide feedback after each event to improve future performances.
- Participate in outreach events at high schools, interacting with students in a professional manner.
- Uphold the college's reputation with respect and integrity, reflecting the Lake Land vision and values.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Community Outreach.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
No prior work experience is necessary, although experience in acting or as a mascot is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Commitment to the mission of Lake Land College.
- Strong communication abilities and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of public relations objectives and practices.
- Ability to work independently and follow established guidelines.
- Dependability and reliability are essential.
- Outgoing personality that shines through while in costume.
