Job Title: Laborer II

We are seeking a skilled Laborer II to join our team at the City of Bremerton. As a Laborer II, you will be responsible for performing service and maintenance for the Public Works and Utilities Department, focusing on water works practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate as an active team member of a crew.
  • Capable of following guidelines, established maintenance practices, and safety regulations.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of fire hydrants and meter boxes.
  • Assist in construction, repairs, installation, and maintenance of the City of Bremerton's water distribution system.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in utility maintenance or a related field.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
Working Conditions:
  • The worker is subject to environmental conditions, including protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions, with activities occurring inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to noise, with sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
  • The worker is subject to vibration, with exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
  • The worker is subject to hazards, including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals.
  • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions, including one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
Benefits:
  • Accrue paid sick leave at the rate of one (1) hour for every forty (40) hours worked.
  • Use accrued paid sick leave for various reasons, including caring for yourself or a family member, being the victim of sexual assault, domestic violence, or stalking, or in the event of a public official closing a business or school due to health-related reasons.
