Job Title: Line Cook

Polly Pies is seeking a skilled Line Cook to join our team. As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of products, including bread, pastries, and desserts.

Job Summary

The Line Cook will work closely with our production team to ensure that all products meet our high standards of quality and freshness. This is a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and bake a variety of products, including bread, pastries, and desserts.
  • Manage daily production and communication of product counts with the production team.
  • Prepare breakfast items, including quiche, cinnamon rolls, and muffins.
  • Prepare and bake bread items, including loaves, buns, and rolls.
  • Daily preparation of seasonal fresh fruit for pies and toppings.
  • Clean all bake-related machines, workstations, transit trays, and instruments too large for the dishwasher.
  • Responsible for properly labeling, organizing, and rotating bake ingredients in the freeze and storage areas.
  • Receive orders, check invoices, and put deliveries away as needed.
  • Prepare the kitchen for the day, including making sure everything is secure and the oven is lit.
  • Notify the production team of any food quality issues, inconsistencies of product with recipes, low inventory, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary bake area and station at all times.
  • Comply with established weight and measures, health, sanitation, and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Protect the brand through promoting and providing extraordinary service when interacting with team members and guests.
  • Demonstrate dependable leadership qualities to work primarily unassisted and be proactive to escalate matters as needed.
  • Flexible to cross-train in other functions for back-of-the-house/kitchen areas.
Requirements
  • At least 1 year prior work experience as a cook, baker, or enrollment in a culinary program.
  • Ability to use scales, thermometers, measuring, and divide and multiply recipes.
  • Good organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with baking equipment, including ovens, mixers, etc.
  • Clear understanding of kitchen and food safety guidelines.
  • Valid Food Handlers Card (if required by county).
