The Role:

This engineering role focuses on the development, optimization, and manufacturing implementation of optical test equipment and process capabilities to meet company goals for the Silicon Photonics program. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing methods and procedures for process control, testing, and inspection to ensure product quality and minimize defects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for process control, testing, and inspection to ensure product quality and minimize defects.

  • Designs and installs sophisticated testing equipment and performs product testing and analysis to maintain quality levels and minimize defects and failure rates.

  • Analyzes reports and defective products to determine trends and recommends corrective actions.

  • Collaborates with supplier representatives on quality problems and ensures effective corrective actions are implemented.

  • Performs all activities in a safe and responsible manner and supports all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

  • Works collaboratively with other projects and/or assignments as needed.

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a technical authority in electrical and optical characterization and is recognized within the company for expertise in this area.

  • Demonstrates initiative and creativity resulting in high degrees of innovation and problem-solving skills.

  • Leads complex projects or initiatives and participates in cross-functional teams across sites.

  • Coaches and mentors less experienced staff and influences others as a technical leader.

Requirements:

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; master’s or Ph.D. preferred.

  • Experience - Minimum of 8 years with a BS Degree; 7 years with a MS degree or 5 years with a PhD from a Technical University.

  • Advanced understanding of optical integrated and electrical circuit design, test, and the effects of characteristics on product yield and performance.

  • Able to write and develop internal software tools for test development and optimization of test time.

  • Prior experience in transferring, implementing, ramping, and sustaining optical/electrical test in a high-volume manufacturing setting with a focus on customer-specific product/technology analysis.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work effectively within a global cross-functional team environment.

  • Programming languages C/C++, Unix, Java, shell scripting, multi-paradigm (R), and high-level Python/Perl for automation and statistical.
