**Job Summary**

Quad is seeking a skilled Rolltender to join our team. As a Rolltender, you will be responsible for loading rolls of paper onto a printing press, ensuring the smooth operation of our production process.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • **Load Rolls of Paper**: Consistently load rolls of paper onto the printing press, adhering to standard operating procedures.
  • **Coordinate Plates and Tickets**: Coordinate plates and tickets for upcoming jobs, ensuring accurate and efficient production.
  • **Inspect Rolls**: Inspect rolls of paper for blemishes or tears, cutting away any damage to maintain quality.
  • **Setup and Maintenance**: Set up and make splices, bend and hang plates, and hang blankets, as well as assist with webbing up the press.
  • **Ink Management**: Ensure correct ink is available for each job, checking ink fountains regularly to maintain optimal print quality.
  • **Quality Control**: Set fold during make-readies, check trim sheets to proof, and complete necessary roll reports and paperwork accurately.
  • **Communication**: Communicate effectively with the plate room and paper warehouse, coordinating the changing of ink, etch, and silicone totes as needed.
  • **Press Maintenance**: Wash up the press and assist with preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance.

**Requirements**

  • **Previous Experience**: Candidates with previous jogger/entry-level experience are a plus.
  • **Mechanical Abilities**: Strong mechanical abilities and previous knowledge of presses and roll stands are a plus.
  • **Math Skills**: Ability to perform basic math calculations is essential.
  • **Communication Skills**: Good verbal and written comprehension skills are a must.
  • **Teamwork**: Must be able to thrive in a team environment and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • **Physical Demands**: Ability to bend and lift 10-20 pounds continuously, lift up to 70 pounds occasionally, stand long hours, use hands and wrists continuously, and use vision to identify defects.
