Job Summary:

The Patient Care Technician II works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide compassionate personal care, comfort, and safety for patients.

This role involves working within the scope of practice and being assigned tasks that are reasonably predictable, do not require assessment, interpretation, or independent decision-making during their performance, or do not pose any risk to the patient.

The Patient Care Technician II is attentive not only to the needs of patients but also to the needs of the family accompanying the patient.

They collaborate with all members of the healthcare team to provide care.

The Patient Care Technician II is cross-trained to assume Unit Secretary functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and comfort to patients
  • Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide care
  • Assume Unit Secretary functions after cross-training

Requirements:

  • Current licensure to practice as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Rhode Island
  • Ability to understand and perform instructions and procedures
  • Previous Nursing Assistant experience with a positive evaluation from a Manager preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, and ability to work as a team member with close attention to organizational skills
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association/American Safety
  • Previous Unit Secretary experience preferred or cross-trained to perform additional duties
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred, although the minimum age requirement is 16 years of age
