We are seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at Westbury Jeep Chrysler Dodge. As a key member of our service department, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical issues, and ensuring vehicles meet safety and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Execute tasks as specified on the repair order with efficiency and precision, adhering to dealership and factory standards.
- Conduct lube oil and filter changes, apply oil change stickers to the windshield based on manufacturer recommendations, perform tire rotations, tire replacement, mounting and balancing, wiper blade replacements, differential service, transmission service, transfer case service, resets all vehicle oil change indicator lights and warning lights, replaces brake pads, conducts NY state inspections, programs key fobs and RKE, performs software updates, and handles scheduled maintenance.
- Diagnose the root cause of any malfunction and carry out the necessary repairs.
- Collaborate with the parts department to procure required components.
- Retain and label parts of the job if under warranty or at the customer's request.
- Inspect the assigned vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is necessary or advisable.
- Notify the service advisor promptly if extra work is required, if the outlined work is unnecessary, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe.
- Document all performed and recommended work on the repair order.
- Conduct road tests on vehicles when necessary or defer to the test technician.
- Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
- Stay informed about manufacturer technical bulletins.
- Supervise the work of apprentice technicians as assigned.
- Report any machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Ensure customers' cars are kept clean and promptly inform the service advisor of any changes to the vehicle's appearance or condition.
- Maintain a tidy and organized shop area.
- Maintain and be responsible for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to the proper place and in the same condition as received.
- Understand, stay updated on, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Operate all tools and equipment safely.
- Report any safety issues promptly to management.
- Vehicles must be returned in the same condition of cleanliness received: all interior areas must be cleaned if soiled in your possession, all exterior/Engine compartment/Undercarriage must be cleaned if soiled in your possession.
- Customer settings in their vehicle cannot be changed: radio, mirrors, seats, temperature control.
