Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Healthcare Engineer to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective management of our healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and implement energy conservation measures to reduce utility costs and improve sustainability.
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in energy management, facilities operations, and project engineering to support regional healthcare systems.
  • Collaborate with regional facilities, national staff, and external organizations to implement and coordinate policies and program plans.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to facility maintenance staff on new equipment and complex utility systems.
  • Develop and implement capital asset and construction programs that meet healthcare facility-related standards, codes, and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • At least one year of experience in a related field, with a strong background in energy management, facilities operations, and project engineering.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional registration or licensure as a Professional Engineer or Architect.
  • Experience with capital planning and budgeting, with a strong understanding of financial planning and budgeting principles.
  • Knowledge of current and evolving concepts and principles of general engineering, with the ability to apply new and innovative approaches to complex problems.
