Position Overview
This role is situated within the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), specifically in the Enforcement Division. The primary mission of MSHA is to avert fatalities, illnesses, and injuries in the mining sector while fostering safe and healthful working environments for miners across the United States.

Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections and evaluations of mining operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations. This includes:
1. Performing on-site safety and health inspections.
2. Analyzing and monitoring occupational health standards.
3. Evaluating environmental conditions affecting worker safety.

Requirements
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Minimum age of 16 years.
- Completion of a probationary period may be required.
- Candidates must obtain the necessary security clearance.
- Subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Must comply with financial disclosure requirements.

Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate relevant experience or education as outlined below:
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in Federal service, which includes on-site safety inspections in mining or closely related industries.
Education:
Completion of one full academic year of graduate-level education in fields such as mining engineering, civil engineering, or occupational health and safety.
Combination of Experience and Education:
Equivalent combinations of education and experience that total at least 100%.

Medical Requirements
Applicants must be physically capable of performing demanding duties without posing a risk to themselves or others. A medical examination is mandatory for all candidates. Conditions that may hinder safe job performance are disqualifying.

Vision and Hearing Standards
Applicants must meet specific vision requirements, including correctable vision standards. Hearing capabilities must also be within acceptable ranges.
