Key Responsibilities:
The individual in this role will be tasked with the following duties:
- Traveling to various educational facilities to conduct routine equipment inspections and address requests for troubleshooting, repairs, or replacements of audiometric devices.
- Performing listening assessments on devices and implementing protocols to verify their proper functionality.
- Delivering training sessions for educators and students on the effective use and maintenance of amplification systems and assistive listening devices.
- Consulting operational manuals and collaborating with manufacturers to resolve issues, conduct minor repairs, and manage equipment returns.
- Overseeing the inventory of audiometric devices and components, placing orders for necessary parts, tracking purchase orders, and managing service agreements.
- Acting as a liaison among educators, students, and licensed audiologists to ensure all audiometric requirements are fulfilled and equipment challenges are addressed.
- Maintaining accurate records and generating reports as needed.
- Executing other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- (a) A bachelor's degree in communication disorders, audiology, speech/language pathology, or a related discipline from an accredited institution; OR
- (b) A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution along with one year of experience working with audiometric devices or as an interpreter or language facilitator; OR
- (c) An associate's degree from an accredited institution combined with three years of experience in audiometric equipment or as an interpreter or language facilitator; OR
- (d) A high school diploma or equivalent with five years of experience in audiometric equipment or as an interpreter or language facilitator. An equivalent combination of training and experience may also be considered.
Special Requirements:
Upon appointment, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet transportation needs for the role. Additionally, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required for positions involving direct contact with students.
Salary:
$39,000 (base salary prorated based on hours worked), with potential additional salary credit for relevant experience and/or education up to 10 years. Excellent benefits are available.
