Electrical Systems Specialist Job Description

Job Summary

Under general supervision, perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic systems, wiring, fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment; and perform related work as required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Foster a safe working environment by adhering to federal, state, and local safety regulations, and all company policies.
  2. Ensure that electrical systems adhere to national electrical standards and regulations.
  3. Install electrical systems.
  4. Use blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's installation manuals to complete projects.
  5. Complete work orders and recording materials used on the job.
  6. Conduct general electrical systems maintenance and troubleshoot electrical issues with testing equipment.
  7. Identify electrical problems and repair them.
  8. Work individually or as part of a team to successfully complete projects.
  9. Project a professional and respectful demeanor at all times when representing the company; demonstrate self-control.
  10. Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to less experienced team members.
  11. Conduct workplace exams prior to each shift; identify and promptly resolve hazards.
  12. Conduct and document pre-shift inspections on equipment and hand-tools; immediately report safety defects identified.
  13. Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA); and pertinent electrical codes and regulations.
  • Customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Motivated, self-starter.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Valid drivers' license.
  • Must have own tools.
Education and Experience
  • Journeyman license preferred; or enrolled in the final year of an apprenticeship program.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience in an industrial manufacturing or mining environment.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing/mining equipment and electrical systems/high-speed production equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently required to walk, sit, stand, balance, stoop, bend, push, pull, lift, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs/ladders and use of hands.
  • Must have vision, hearing, and ability to talk.
  • Exposure to hot/cold temperatures.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel independently to multi-state customer job sites; for extended periods at times.
  • Strong manual dexterity and eye-to-hand coordination.
  • Ability to identify wires by their distinct colors.
