POSITION SUMMARY
This entry-level position provides field engineering project support to Orion, focusing on inspection of project materials and work control guidelines for accurate measurement and installation. The incumbent will work closely with project teams to ensure successful project completion and close out.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with project management teams and jobsite work crews to ensure successful project completion.
Assists in developing bid proposals for upcoming marine construction and services projects.
Estimates costs for upcoming projects, accounting for materials, services, labor, and other associated costs.
Performs drafting, charging, and graphical work.
Works with project managers to procure materials from suppliers required at the jobsite.
Inventories, checks, examines, and measures materials received to ensure quality and quantity.
Interprets project plans and specifications.
Provides work control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials.
Checks as-built conditions requiring surveying techniques.
Provides topographic and cross-section surveys as required by planning and payment quantities.
Coordinates surveying activities with assigned engineers to meet construction requirements.
Ensures project team members and work crews work in a safe manner and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and policies.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A B.S. degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Science or related discipline is required. Prior hands-on work experience in the marine construction industry is preferred but not required. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of project management, administration, marine construction, materials procurement, estimating, scheduling, project tracking software, cost control, engineering, and project standards, as well as safety and environmental compliance.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must be able to wear and properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, earplugs, steel-toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location. The incumbent must also have the ability to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management, including corporate. The individual must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. The incumbent must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
