Licensed Veterinary Technician

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team at Petco. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to our patients and delivering outstanding customer service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, and euthanasia procedures.
- Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, and handle and dispense medications as directed by the veterinarian.
- Schedule appointments, communicate with clients, and maintain accurate records.
- Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, monitor patients during recovery, and prepare them for discharge to their owners.
- Provide in-hospital treatments for sick patients, including giving injectable and oral medications, and intravenous therapies.
Requirements:
- College or college-equivalent education as required in becoming a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state in which the hospital is located.
- At least 1 year of previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or working in a veterinary practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Compassionate and sympathetic with the ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
- Telephone and computer skills.
- A team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change.
Work Environment:
The majority of job duties will be conducted in the Vetco Total Care full-service hospital. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds, as necessary), and standing for long periods of time.
Contacts:
This position will regularly communicate with clients, veterinary specialists, and companies that provide products and/or services that the practice utilizes.
