At MatX, we're pushing the boundaries of AI efficiency and quality. We're seeking a visionary leader to spearhead our machine learning research team, driving innovation and excellence in systems-focused ML research.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of neural net model architecture research and a proven track record of leading high-performing teams. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a strategic vision for the ML research team, aligning with company goals and timelines.
  • Overseeing the development of novel model architectures optimized for our hardware.
  • Collaborating with engineering teams and their leads on HW architecture from an ML perspective.
  • Leading the ML research team's contribution to HWSWMLR codesign.

Requirements include:

  • Deep experience in neural net model architecture research.
  • Prior experience as a lead at a large ML team, equal-first author on a highly cited paper, or core contributor on a large-scale LLM pre-training model.
  • 5+ years of experience in machine learning research, with experience managing and growing an ML research or engineering team a plus.

All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and work from our offices in Mountain View Tuesdays-Thursdays.
