POSITION SUMMARY:
The Consult Liaison Psychiatrist plays a crucial role in delivering psychiatric evaluations and recommendations for patients presenting with primary psychiatric disorders or co-occurring psychiatric conditions. This role requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team, including advanced practice clinicians, to ensure comprehensive care for individuals in acute psychiatric distress.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide psychiatric consultations to emergency departments and inpatient units.
- Work closely with inpatient behavioral health services to facilitate patient admissions and care coordination.
- Deliver consultative services primarily for designated campuses, utilizing both telehealth and in-person approaches based on patient needs.
- Collaborate with psychiatric leadership to establish and maintain new service lines, including Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT).
WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a full-time clinical position, primarily Monday through Friday, with flexibility required for after-hours clinical needs, including ECT services.
CALL EXPECTATIONS:
No formal call obligations; however, there may be opportunities for voluntary inpatient support during unforeseen absences.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Engage in risk evaluations and collaborate with medical teams to ensure appropriate care pathways.
- Provide psychiatric medication management and education to patients and their families.
- Participate in the training and supervision of medical students and residents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Oregon medical license as MD/DO.
- Board certification in Psychiatry or equivalent qualifications.
- Experience in consult liaison psychiatry and inpatient services preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work primarily in designated facilities, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff. Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
