Join Our Team as a Senior Accountant

At Neogen, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting team. This role will be crucial in ensuring compliance with SEC regulations and accounting standards, assisting with the preparation of financial reports, and providing technical accounting guidance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of SEC documents, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other regulatory filings.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC regulations, U.S. GAAP, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and support the preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit requests and queries related to SEC filings.

Technical Accounting:
  • Research, analyze, and document technical accounting issues, including new standards and complex transactions.
  • Provide guidance on technical accounting matters to various business units and ensure appropriate application of accounting principles.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Support the implementation of new accounting standards and regulations.

Financial Analysis and Support:
  • Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Perform financial analysis to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements.
  • Assist in preparing materials for the Audit Committee and Board of Directors.

Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of SEC reporting and technical accounting processes.
  • Stay current with changes in accounting standards and SEC regulations to ensure the company's financial reporting remains compliant.

Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent designation is highly preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 or top-tier firm preferred) or in a public company's financial reporting or technical accounting department.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with financial reporting tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex information.
