Position: Supplier Quality Engineer - Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics
Location: Various locations across the United States
Role Overview:
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will engage in quality assurance activities concerning procured components during the project phase. Your primary goal will be to oversee and assist suppliers in defining and establishing processes that consistently deliver parts meeting agreed specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct supplier audits and quality assurance activities for purchased components within projects related to Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics, Body in White Metal, and General Metal Components.
- Oversee the industrialization of products from the sourcing phase through to PPAP approval, ensuring a thorough tracking of the APQP process.
- Manage a diverse portfolio of suppliers, which may require travel to supplier and manufacturing locations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help shape future sourcing strategies.
- Contribute to design and technical specification reviews, ensuring manufacturing feasibility with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Review tool design practices with suppliers, providing necessary insights.
- Lead the evaluation of Control Plans to ensure product and process characteristics are adequately represented.
- Advocate for best practices in automated process control, error-proofing, automatic inspection, and the segregation of defective components in production.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in supplier quality assurance or quality engineering, with a focus on APQP/PPAP.
- Experience in Sheet Metal fabrication, Chassis and Vehicle Dynamics, or Class A Cab Body Steel, particularly within the Transportation Industry.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and a zero-defect mentality in sourcing and supplier process evaluations.
- Strong networking abilities and the capacity to lead cross-functional initiatives within multicultural teams.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
