Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the qualifications by the application cut-off date unless otherwise specified. All relevant experience will be considered.
For current Federal employees, if your resume does not include hours worked per week, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed to validate your work schedule and assess your qualifying experience. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable for this purpose.
For applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must indicate either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked weekly to ensure accurate evaluation of specialized experience.
Failure to provide necessary information may result in uncredited time when assessing qualifying experience.
For military service periods, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and not older than 37 years by the application date. These positions are subject to special retirement provisions for Federal Law Enforcement officers, with a mandatory retirement age of 57.
Exceptions:
Two exceptions are permitted:
1. An applicant with prior Federal service in a primary covered position sufficient to complete 20 years of service by the mandatory retirement age of 57; or

Successful completion of 60 credit hours/2 years of higher education. - Combination:
A combination of education and experience as described above.
Volunteer Experience:
Experience refers to both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer roles through National Service programs and other organizations. Volunteer work contributes to the development of critical competencies and skills, providing valuable training that translates directly to paid employment.
Assessment Process:
After determining minimum qualifications, selected candidates may proceed with additional assessments as outlined in the evaluation section.
Written Examination:
Applicants must successfully complete a written examination and Job Compatibility Analysis (JCA). The POST exam is a standardized test measuring competency in arithmetic, reading comprehension, grammar, and incident report writing. A minimum score of 70% is required to continue in the hiring process.
Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB):
Applicants must complete a series of physical tests, including a sit and reach, bench press, agility run, and a 1.5-mile run, with a passing score of 70% or better in each event.
Background Investigation Preparation:
Selected applicants will undergo an in-person interview with a background investigator. During this process, candidates must provide any additional information requested in a timely manner. Failure to do so may result in removal from the hiring process.
