Key Responsibilities:
As a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, you will:
- Implement a therapeutic recreation program within the hospital aimed at aiding the rehabilitation of patients with physical and mental disabilities.
- Guide patients in engaging in various activities such as games, social interactions, sports, or music to foster a sense of community, encourage creative expression, and teach skills for leisure activities during their hospital stay and after discharge.
- Create a supportive environment that empowers patients to discover their potential, build positive morale, and alleviate the distress associated with illness.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Recreation Therapy, Art Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, or a related field.
- Preferred certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Registered Therapeutic Recreator (RTR).
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in Behavioral Healthcare, rehabilitation, or skilled nursing facility settings is preferred.
