About the Role

As a Police Officer with the VCU Police Department, you will be responsible for providing a safe and secure learning, living, and working environment for the students, faculty, staff, and visitors of Virginia Commonwealth University. You will be expected to patrol the campus, respond to emergency calls, and provide assistance to the community as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol the campus on foot, bicycle, or in a vehicle to ensure the safety and security of the community
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance as needed
  • Provide information and assistance to the community on a variety of topics, including parking, traffic, and campus events
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment for the community
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest law enforcement techniques and procedures

Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record
  • Must be able to pass a physical and mental health evaluation
  • Must be able to pass a background check and a polygraph test
