The Water Treatment Facility Technician will engage in essential tasks to ensure the effective operation of water treatment processes. This role involves utilizing advanced electronic laboratory instruments, titration apparatus, and measurement tools for comprehensive water analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize hand tools for the maintenance and repair of all facility equipment and infrastructure.
- Operate power equipment for the upkeep of treatment facilities and surrounding areas.
- Conduct regular water quality assessments to ensure the production of safe drinking water.
- Monitor treatment processes and adjust pumping rates based on water quality and demand.
- Perform routine maintenance on all equipment and maintain accurate records of operations and repairs.
- Communicate effectively with the public regarding inquiries about water quality and services.
Candidates must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License and have completed a minimum of high school education, with additional coursework in relevant fields being advantageous. Experience in water treatment is preferred, along with strong mathematical and communication skills.
Certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection as a Class B Type 1 Waterworks Operator or equivalent is required, with a commitment to maintaining certification throughout employment.
Physical RequirementsThis position necessitates various physical activities, including but not limited to:
- Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
- Reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting (up to 100 lbs frequently).
- Visual acuity for inspection and close assembly tasks.
Work environments may include exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and various hazards, necessitating the use of appropriate safety gear.
