At Jennings Builders Supply, we are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks in an assigned area, including constructing, repairing, restoring, and installing structural woodwork and related materials.
Key Responsibilities:- Adhere to established safety rules and regulations by passing safety tests and following all safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with crew and foreman, follow directions, and prioritize daily duties.
- Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layouts and determine dimensions and materials required.
- Measure, calculate, and mark cutting lines on materials accurately, using rulers, pencils, chalk, and marking gauges.
- Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
- Select and supply crew, carpenters, and leads with materials.
- Use proper nailing procedures for all applications.
- Finish, inspect, and ensure work complies with quality standards and expectations.
- High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an apprenticeship program, certificate, or degree program at a vocational school or community college is a plus.
- Minimum 6+ months of carpentry experience in the commercial and/or residential sectors.
- Knowledgeable of standard methods, practices, principles, tools, and equipment used in the carpentry trade and its associated occupational hazards.
- Basic knowledge of state codes and procedures, including energy codes.
This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, exposure to outdoor temperatures and weather conditions, and the ability to climb ladders, walk on roof decks, and other heights. Regularly lifting up to 50 pounds is also required.
