Job Summary

This role is responsible for providing technical support to surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist I will assist in preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures
  • Prepare the operating room and maintain a sterile environment
  • Ensure that all necessary equipment and supplies are available
  • Monitor and maintain the sterile field
  • Assist in the handling and disposal of biohazardous materials
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and maintain a positive, courteous, and helpful attitude towards patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
Requirements
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures and standards of practice acquired through a surgical technology program accredited through Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) or military program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain a calm and efficient demeanor in stressful situations
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, trauma, grief, and death. The ability to wear personal protective equipment, including latex materials or appropriate substitutes, is required. The role also requires frequent standing, walking, and postural changes, as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
