Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive RCRA environmental consulting, including planning, data assessment, reporting, overseeing field personnel, travel, fieldwork, and/or sample collection.
- Review, evaluate, and interpret environmental data, preparing summary reports as needed.
- Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels, maintaining professionalism in interactions.
- Clean confined spaces to remove liquids, solids, and residue using various methods, such as scraping, scrubbing, sweeping, mopping, squeegees, and shoveling.
- Perform physical labor associated with cleanup and remediation activities, including sample collection, drum pumping, drum handling, waste bulking, and hand and mechanical demolition.
- Respond promptly to customer spills and emergencies during and after normal business hours.
- Inspect containers and collection areas, ensuring compliance, labeling, and proper sealing.
- Operate light and heavy equipment, including pumps, pressure washers, generators, electric pallet jacks, forklifts, bobcats, etc.
- Process shipping documents, including receipt, review, preparation, and signing.
- Audit employee procedures and ensure adherence to company guidelines.
- Develop work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Track manifest submissions to generators and the EPA.
- Conduct waste characterization sampling, including hazard categorization of unknown substances in drums and other containers with field testing.
Requirements
This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrology, Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or other Natural Science or equivalent experience/certifications. A minimum of five years of relevant experience is preferred, with intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, ArcGIS, AutoCAD. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Knowledge of Alaska environmental regulations, RCRA, CERCLA, OSHA, and other federal regulations is also required.
