About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer, Substations to join our team at Siemens Energy. As a key member of our Substation Design Engineering department, you will play a critical role in the design and development of substation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review detailed engineering documentation for substation projects, including wiring diagrams, station layouts, and bill of materials.
  • Develop switchgear and control room layout drawings for proposals and projects.
  • Prepare single-line diagrams, aux power diagrams, and protection one-line diagrams.
  • Create high-voltage and medium-voltage substation layouts, including plan views, section views, and equipment views.
  • Perform cable ampacity, grounding, lightning, illumination, and station auxiliary load calculations.
  • Create equipment specifications and detail bill of materials.
  • Review customer request for proposal documentation and identify necessary exceptions, deviations, or clarifications.
  • Develop scope of work and work-breakdown structure documents and high-level engineering execution plans.
  • Manage interfaces with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and site contractors.
  • Monitor and report project engineering progress, implement mitigation and corrective actions, and help identify and analyze project risks.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 or more years of experience working on substation projects.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer is preferred.
  • Prior experience in engineering design for utility power projects is desirable.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Strong verbal and written skills in English.
  • Knowledge of ANSI and IEC standards.
