Job Summary:
The Service Technician I is a critical member of our team at Heritage Environmental Services, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient handling of hazardous waste materials. This role requires a strong focus on health and safety, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load and unload drums and containers from trucks, processing and storing hazardous waste materials in a safe and compliant manner.
- Weigh and break down large containers into smaller ones, ensuring accurate measurements and minimizing waste.
- Operate a forklift to retrieve drums and containers from storage, and use a computer and conveyor system to manage the processing and storage of hazardous materials.
- Transport and position trailers and tankers for the collection of slag and ash, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
- Pump out containers of liquid and transfer material from tank to tank using a centrifugal pump, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; previous experience operating a fork truck and HAZWOPER certification preferred.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness, pass a pre-employment physical, background check, and drug screen, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including a respirator.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs, work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, and participate in Emergency Response and Fire Brigade.
