We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Facilities Management to join our team at Carl Sandburg College. Key Responsibilities- Oversee the implementation and communication of compliance with regulatory laws, including EPA and OSHA.
- Manage energy management and building control systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with ADA/504 and safety rules and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Conduct regular inspections and safety audits to ensure environmental and occupational health and safety requirements are met.
- Provide training to staff on proper equipment use, materials, and task performance to meet quality standards.
- Evaluate and provide feedback to the Physical Plant team, including yearly and probationary evaluations.
- Develop, update, and manage workplace safety procedures, programs, and policies.
- Manage the Physical Plant department budget and prepare reports and documents related to construction and physical plant operations.
- Operate and maintain all physical facilities and related personnel.
- Prepare and submit required reporting and compliance documentation.
- Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance and renovation program for all campus facilities and systems.
- Manage project components and activities for capital construction projects, including College Board and ICCB approvals.
- Coordinate Public Health and Safety Projects (PHS) and necessary inspections by the college's insurance underwriters.
- Serve as the college's liaison with state and federal emergency response agencies.
- Develop and assess outcomes for departmental initiatives and activities, reporting associated metrics and making data-driven decisions.
- Bachelor's degree or 120 semester hours of college credit or equivalent experience required.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Experience in a community college is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of computer systems and software.
- Ability to communicate successfully with clients of all ages, socio-economic status, gender, or race.
- Exhibits integrity and professionalism.
- Spanish or French proficiency preferred.
- General physical efforts required include sitting, bending, and reaching.
- Basic dexterity skills (computer work, telephone, and other office equipment).
