Position Overview

The Strategic Financial Analyst for Strategic Spending in Technology plays a crucial role in conducting various analyses that support productivity, strategic technology investments, workforce optimization, and cost transparency within the technology sector.

This position involves assisting in the design and implementation of processes and reporting mechanisms aimed at rationalizing the growth of technology expenditures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and articulate the drivers of technology spending, analyzing the current state and projecting future trends based on these drivers.
  • Conduct analysis and reporting on productivity initiatives across the Technology division.
  • Utilize data analytics in conjunction with financial analysis to create narratives supported by data.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of vendor management strategies, including spend and contract analysis.
  • Evaluate and refine the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model in Apptio, conducting analyses to outline the roadmap.
  • Guide partners through investment analyses and the development of business cases for significant IT projects, particularly those involving transitions from legacy systems to modern, cloud-based platforms.
  • Engage in ad hoc analyses and strategic initiatives that impact both finance and technology organizations.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, with a focus on accounting, finance, reporting, forecasting, and analysis.
  • A strong foundation in accounting principles and financial analysis, typically acquired through an advanced degree or equivalent experience.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills necessary for evaluating financial data.
  • A comprehensive understanding of technology functions, including application development, support, and infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in data elements and analysis.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to present pertinent information to senior management.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and financial systems; familiarity with SQL, Power BI, Python, and ETL automation software is advantageous.
