About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Gameplay Programmer to join our team at Epic Games. As a Gameplay Programmer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing gameplay mechanics and systems for our games.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with technical designers to build, iterate, and optimize new gameplay items and features.
  • Prototype and iterate on features, ensuring strong architectural and algorithmic decisions are made.
  • Support the technical excellence of Fortnite, optimizing and fixing bugs in existing gameplay systems.
  • Contribute ideas toward Fortnite Battle Royale's continued production and development.
  • Write robust, maintainable code to enable and empower other designers and engineers.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience as a gameplay programmer, preferably working on AAA titles or live service games.
  • A keen analytical mind, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong C++ skills and the ability to code and architect gameplay mechanics and tools.
  • Well-versed in games and the ability to articulate what is strong/weak about the design of existing games.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and able to work independently.
