Role Overview:
AJM Packaging Corporation, a prominent player in the production of paper goods such as plates, cups, bowls, and bags, is in search of a Manufacturing Plant Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Manufacturing Plant Engineer is responsible for overseeing the electrical and mechanical systems within a manufacturing facility, ensuring optimal performance from installation through to troubleshooting.
This role is pivotal in enhancing plant efficiency, integrating new technologies, repairing machinery, boosting production rates, and mitigating manufacturing challenges such as bottlenecks. The engineer will conduct regular assessments, evaluate machinery performance, and address issues promptly while ensuring compliance with operational regulations.
The Manufacturing Plant Engineer will also review project plans and provide insights for necessary modifications throughout the project lifecycle. It is essential to maintain facility compliance with applicable regulations and perform routine inspections to ensure machinery and operations are safe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead or assist in the manufacturing of new products and processes while recommending enhancements to existing operations.
- Develop and support preventive maintenance initiatives in collaboration with maintenance and plant management.
- Ensure plant systems are upheld through a structured preventive maintenance program.
- Assess equipment needs and assist in the procurement of tools and spare parts.
- Stay updated on advancements in manufacturing technologies to drive cost efficiencies.
- Act as project manager for large-scale initiatives with minimal oversight.
- Prepare project proposals including cost analyses, timelines, and communication strategies.
- Serve as the technical authority for newly adopted technologies.
- Optimize material flow, plant layouts, and manufacturing processes.
- Engage with all machinery and equipment to ensure peak operational efficiency and safety.
- Assist in the installation and upkeep of all machinery and tools, resolving maintenance issues and suggesting improvements as needed.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis on persistent and sporadic issues, becoming the primary contact for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical challenges.
- Identify machinery and equipment problems and perform regular audits on safety control measures.
- Collaborate effectively with the engineering technology department to evaluate upcoming capital projects and gather necessary feedback on equipment and layouts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
- 5-7 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Computer Aided Drafting, preferably AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with LEAN practices and tools.
- Comfortable with Six Sigma methodologies and tools.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills for complex problem resolution.
- Effective oral and written communication abilities.
- High level of interpersonal skills for collaborative work.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with PLC systems, specifically Allen Bradley or Siemens.
- Background in automation and controls engineering.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
- CMfgT or CMfgE certifications.
