Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medication Aide-Certified (MA-C) to join our team at Otterbein SeniorLife. As a Medication Aide, you will play a vital role in providing safe and ethical care for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Administration: Assist residents with preparing and administering medications ordered by the physician, in accordance with state regulations and company policies.
  • Observation and Reporting: Observe residents for adverse reactions to medications and report any concerns to the supervising nurse.
  • Vital Sign Monitoring: Take and record vital signs prior to administration of medications which could affect or change vital signs.
  • Documentation: Immediately document the administration of medication in the resident's record.
  • Communication: Communicate all deviations in the delegated medication administration to the nurse.
  • Assistance with Daily Living: Assist the nurse in providing care to residents, which includes observation and reporting of resident needs.
  • Medication Storage and Management: Prepare and store medications in accordance with instructions of the manufacturer or pharmacist.
  • Housekeeping and Safety: Maintain neat, clean, and orderly medication room(s) and medication cart(s), and follow federal, state, and company regulations to protect own health and that of others.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Certification: Current Medication Aide Certification issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing, CPR, and active STNA certification.
  • Experience: At least 12 months of direct care as an STNA practice desired; long term care experience preferred.
