We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team at Memorial Healthcare System. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Radiation Oncology Unit.
Key Responsibilities- Apply ionizing radiation to patients as instructed and prescribed by physicians, adhering to departmental standards, state guidelines, and Memorial Healthcare System's policy and procedures.
- Prepare rooms and equipment properly for each treatment, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients.
- Perform imaging procedures, such as CBCT, KV, MV, and respiratory gating, as ordered, to position patients accurately.
- Analyze results, identify issues, and take appropriate action, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures to deliver therapy according to treatment plans.
- Review physician's orders and radiation therapy treatment plans, identifying and reporting potential liabilities and risks to the Chief Therapist.
- Serve as a resource to radiation therapy students, role-modeling professional behaviors, instructing, assessing, and evaluating their performance.
- Manage patient scheduling in technical areas, including simulations, field verifications, daily treatments, and cone-downs, to avoid delays and interruptions.
- Perform CT-Sim procedures and document accurately, executing simulations in accordance with department policies and procedures.
- Prepare rooms and equipment properly for each simulation, monitoring patients and ensuring their safety.
- Perform special procedures, such as 4D CT Respiratory Gating, HDR, TBI, SRS, SBRT, Oral and IV Contrast, and Urethrogram, and monitor patients for adverse reactions, seeking assistance from nurses or physicians as needed.
- Manage patient documentation in Aria for team communication, charge capture, and billing reconciliation.
- Present setup questions and solutions, utilizing Crew Resource Management Principles and Practices.
- Perform quality control warm-up procedures on equipment, troubleshooting, resolving, and reporting equipment malfunctions to the chain of command.
- Participate in scheduled rotations in all department equipment, serve as an emergency on-call therapist, and rotate between both Radiation Oncology departments as needed.
- ARRT Registered Technologist - Radiation Therapy or ARRT Board Eligible and must pass within one (1) month of starting the position.
- Associates in Radiation Therapy or Radiologic Sciences with Radiation Therapy Certification.
- No prior work experience required, but it is expected that the radiation therapist will meet all initial performance competency standards for this position within a one-year period.
