Job Summary

Schuff Steel, a leading steel fabrication and erection company, is seeking a skilled Yard Hand to join our team. As a Yard Hand, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our yard operations, ensuring the smooth flow of materials and tools, and supporting our fabrication and erection teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and repair damaged tools, including electrical cords, welding leads, air hoses, hammers, ladders, and other small hand tools.
  • Operate a forklift to stage materials and tools for future use, as well as load and unload trucks with tools and materials.
  • Utilize shop tools, including a cable winder, to perform various tasks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and record-keeping for incoming tools and materials.
  • Pull orders created by the field and prepare them for shipping.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of experience in construction, tool repair, or a general labor environment. You should possess strong language skills, mathematical abilities, and reasoning skills to apply common sense and deal with problems involving concrete variables.

Working Conditions

This role involves working mainly outdoors without climate control, lifting at least 50lbs repetitively throughout 8-10 hour days, and standing or walking for most of the workday.
