About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at ConsultNet. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard design engineering techniques for small projects or selected segments of larger projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exercise independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make minor design adaptations and modifications.
  • Perform engineering calculations, such as piping stress analysis, FEA, pressure vessel design, hydraulic analysis, heat transfer, etc., and prepare detailed reports for peer review.
  • Review and comment on documents and reports prepared by other engineers, including calculations, specifications, datasheets, etc.
  • Supervise the work of others through the planning, review, and scheduling of specific project tasks when functioning as a project lead engineer.
  • Assist Project Managers with client estimates and project schedules.
  • Prepare equipment purchase specifications and datasheets, assemble and issue RFQ packages, expedite and clarify vendor bids, tabulate bid results, and recommend equipment for purchase.
  • Perform audits of vendor-supplied information against engineering specifications and data sheets for specific projects.
  • Interface directly with equipment vendors during specification, order, and fabrication of equipment.
  • Interface directly with clients, at the direction of the Project Manager, to discuss specific discipline-related issues requiring technical input.
Requirements
  • Requires a four-year Engineering degree (BS in Mechanical Engineering).
  • 8-10 years design engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus but not required.
  • Functional experience with project economics and project estimating is required.
  • Advanced level of computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, scheduling, and engineering-related computer software.
  • CADD literate.
  • Working knowledge of current design codes and standards in multiple disciplines (i.e., Pressure Vessel Code, Boiler Code, NEC, NFPA, MSHA, OSHA).
  • Heavy industrial engineering experience in one or more commercial industries.
  • Ability to multitask.
