Job Summary:

The Lead Laboratory Medical Technologist will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory department at Evergreen Family Medicine. This individual will be responsible for planning, leading, and directing the activities of the laboratory staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and implementing the organization's mission and talent strategy.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and Evergreen Family Medicine policies.
  • Adhere to departmental standards and policies, including state and federal regulations.
  • Identify staffing and recruiting needs, develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
  • Promote a culture of patient-centered care, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Oversee daily workflow, plan and manage priorities, provide technical assistance, and monitor quality of work.
  • Responsible for performing complex laboratory procedures and tests in areas such as blood bank, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology.
  • Troubleshoot, monitor, and screen devices, tests, and procedures, recognizing irregularities, and making corrections to ensure quality.
  • Perform quality assurance testing, routine calibration, and ensure optimal performance of all tools and equipment.
  • Apply criteria for testing, and analyzing the entire process from preparation, conducting tests, functioning of devices, and procedures to ensure quality test results.
  • Consult with clinicians, supervisors, and staff as appropriate on test results, requirements, and testing protocols.
  • Maintain appropriate records for specimens, tests, and data.
  • EHR proficient.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Biological Science or an equivalent related science.
  • Minimum 3 years' clinical experience performing high complexity testing in a clinical laboratory department.
  • Knowledge of specimen collection, preparation, and test requirements and factors affecting test interpretation in responding to inquiries.
  • Mathematical ability to calculate fractions, percentages, ratios, proportion measurements, and apply practical algebra.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
Physical Requirements:

The employee is frequently required to stand and move for long periods. Fine motor skills are necessary to grasp and control medical equipment. Vision and hearing are required within normal limits. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must be able to lift up to pounds at times.
