Job Summary
The Personnel Specialist will be responsible for the personnel transactions of an assigned roster of approximately 180+ employees. This includes processing attendance and payroll for employees in various bargaining units, as well as excluded employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Process personnel transactions, including attendance and payroll, for assigned employees.
- Interpret and apply personnel-related laws, rules, regulations, policies, and Memoranda of Understanding.
- Perform salary determinations and other personnel-related tasks.
- Work under the guidance of a supervisor to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of personnel-related laws, rules, and regulations.
Requirements
- One year of experience in the California state service performing office duties at a level of responsibility equivalent to an Office Assistant, Range B.
- Or two years of office experience.
- Academic education above the 12th grade may be substituted for one year of the required general experience.
Working Conditions
Travel is required.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment.
Pursuant to the Public Health Orders, all staff assigned to this post/position may be required to show evidence of full vaccination and booster for COVID-19.
