Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Social Worker is a key member of our interdisciplinary team, providing direct assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment intervention, and psycho-education to our members and/or their family members. As a seasoned mental health professional, you will be expected to be familiar with all aspects of psychopathology and recognize the appropriate and timely clinical treatment intervention needed. You may work with specific age groups, as determined by your training and certification. Your expertise in various treatment modalities will be essential in delivering high-quality care to our members.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Timely and accurate assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment intervention of our members.
  • Treatment Modalities: Effective selection of treatment modalities to address our members' presenting problems.
  • Communication: Clear and effective communication of clinical material to our members and clinical staff.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Providing high internal and external customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Treatment Expertise: Demonstrating expertise in a variety of treatment methodologies.
  • Documentation: Providing accurate and timely documentation of clinical encounters in our members' charts.
  • Resource Knowledge: Being knowledgeable of Kaiser Permanente and community resources.
  • Compliance: Adhering to all mandated guidelines for patients' clinical care and licensure.
  • Licensure: Maintaining licensure.
  • Initial Interviews: Conducting initial interviews with our members by eliciting and interpreting the psychological and social meaning of their complaints.
  • Urgency Determination: Determining the urgency of our members' needs.
  • Treatment Recommendations: Providing a professional interpretation of our members' presentation and recommending a course of therapeutic action, selecting appropriate treatment modalities.
  • Treatment Provision: Providing treatment to adults, adolescents, and children.
  • Crisis Intervention: Rendering immediate guidance and therapy for our members in crisis or in need of clinical services.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining written records of therapy, preparing reports and letters, and contacting social agencies, schools, relatives, and friends to obtain pertinent information.
  • Consultation: Providing clinical consultation in an integrated healthcare environment regarding family interactions, sociocultural determinants, and community resources.
  • Telephone Support: Providing telephone assessment, counseling, resource information, and referrals.
  • Developmental Stages: Identifying and treating the span of developmental stages.
  • Treatment Modalities: Proficient in various treatment modalities, including individual, group, family, and child therapy.
  • Compliance: Complying with organizational, departmental, state/federal guidelines, and all regulatory agency policies and procedures.
  • Quality Improvement: Participating in quality management and continuous quality improvement activities.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience: Two (2) years of post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five (5) years required.
  • Education: Masters degree in a Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other field related to behavioral health required.
  • Licensure: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California) OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California)
  • National Provider Identifier: National Provider Identifier
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of and ability to utilize current DSM nomenclature required.
  • Cultural Competence: Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to customers, contracted providers, and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience: Experience preferred not required in EMDR, DBT, Eating Disorders, Couple's counseling, LGBTQ+
