The Security Patrol Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, visitors, and staff at University Hospitals. This position is dedicated to maintaining a secure environment, free from theft and other unlawful activities.
Key Responsibilities- Utilizes independent judgment to address potentially hazardous or unusual circumstances while adhering to safety protocols and procedures. Capable of functioning effectively in high-pressure, high-risk situations.
- Engages and collaborates effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Conducts regular patrols of designated areas to identify unusual or criminal activities or conditions that may pose a threat to public safety, ensuring a high level of visibility. Performs security inspections.
- Is approachable and provides assistance as needed to patients, visitors, guests, or fellow employees.
- Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
- Timely prepares and processes necessary reports.
- Maintains the security of the assigned area to ensure the safety of medical personnel, employees, patients, and visitors.
- Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, and staff to gather relevant information.
- Courteously assists other employees, visitors, or patients during incidents.
- Performs other assigned tasks as necessary.
- Adheres to all policies and standards.
- For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to the documentation provided during orientation.
- Must comply with all regulations to securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients. Annual training, the University Hospitals Code of Conduct, and policies are in place to ensure appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (Required)
