Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Security Officer to join our team at the Tulsa City-County Library. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our staff, customers, and property.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular patrols of the interior and exterior of library buildings in all-weather conditions.
  • Monitor buildings for unauthorized and suspicious activities.
  • Report safety, security, and hazardous conditions to management.
  • Respond to calls for assistance from staff and/or customers.
  • Take appropriate action to ensure the safety and security of Library staff, customers, and property.
  • Work with local law enforcement and/or other first responders as needed.
  • Enforce Library policies, rules and regulations.
  • Communicate with customers who fail to comply with Library rules and policies.
  • Prepare incident reports to document facts and findings.

Requirements:

  • CLEET Security Certification required.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver's license required.
  • Reliable transportation to move between locations as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email and the Internet.
  • Basic report writing skills.
  • Available to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently possess a CLEET Security License.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • At least 1-year experience in a security role in a public setting.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

The work is generally physically comfortable, but occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting of materials (up to 20 pounds) may be required. There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less than optimal temperature and air conditions.
