About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Service Controls Engineer to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and servicing complex building control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Configuration
    • Design and configure technically complex building control systems for customer facilities.
    • Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics as required.
  • Software Development and Testing
    • Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per the customer's facility requirements.
  • Project Coordination and Management
    • Coordinate and create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals, service, and/or installation.
    • Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned jobs.
  • System Commissioning and Troubleshooting
    • Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required.
    • Assist in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
  • Communication and Training
    • Provide field change information to the team for the creation of as-built drawings and software.
    • Keep management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
    • Assist in performing site-specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • May provide work direction to Service Controls Technician I and Senior I and Senior II Controls Technicians.
    • Participate in release meeting with sales and service operations.
  • Adherence to Safety Standards
    • Adhere to safety standards.
    • A high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
Requirements
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Minimum of Ten (10) years of experience with programming, installing, and/or commissioning controls systems including system-level controllers.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the construction, service mechanical, electrical, or HVAC service industry.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of mechanical drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems.
    • Demonstrated experience in the integration of low voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols (i.e., Modbus, LON, BACnet, etc.).
    • Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
    • Demonstrated advanced computer skills required, particularly computer-related drafting tools, such as Visio.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or an associate degree in a related technical field with seven years of relevant work experience required.
    • Understanding of IP networking for building automation systems.
