Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician I to join our team at The Salvation Army. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing routine repairs and maintenance work for our buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine building maintenance activities, including minor plumbing repairs, carpentry work, and electrical repairs.
  • Monitor and repair/replace lighting fixtures, including light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and exit lights.
  • Inspect, test, adjust, and repair physical machinery, heating, cooling, piping, and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical malfunctions and perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, dishwashers, laundry machines, and other equipment.
  • Repair walls, floors, ceilings, cabinets, and furniture.
  • Maintain all supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Facilities Department.
  • Perform maintenance activities, including construction, welding, brazing, soldering, and plumbing, under the supervision of the Property Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Check and repair pumps, fans, valves, and motors. Prepare accurate records for preventive maintenance.
  • Assemble and move office furniture, including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, and other equipment.
  • Supervise and monitor all regularly scheduled contract services, such as pest control, copy machines, telephone, street lighting, and utilities services, as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to three years of experience performing maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds.
  • Valid State Driver License.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to exert physical energy required to perform housekeeping and minor maintenance work.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle safely to perform assigned tasks.
Working Conditions

Work requires driving a vehicle and/or working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather, such as rain, cold, snow, heat, or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
